Design Engineer

A well-established manufacturer of Power and Process equipment located in Bucks County is seeking an experienced Mechanical or Chemical Engineer with a BSME/BSChemE degree.

Required Experience & Skills

  • 10 to 15 years of mechanical design experience utilizing ASME Code
  • Ability to perform detailed calculations for pressure vessels and piping systems
  • Design of fabrications and machined parts
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Mechanical Software – 2D
  • In-depth knowledge of welding and NDE
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software
  • Working knowledge of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and strength of materials
  • Strong communication skills
  • PED and/or CRN certification experience is a plus ++

Candidates Must be Familiar with

  • ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel code – Section I, Section VIII (Div 1) and Section IX
  • Strong working knowledge of ASME Piping code (B31.1 / B31.3)
  • Metallic and non-metallic materials (Fiberglass – Familiarity with RTP1 is a plus ++) 
  • Understanding and familiarity with pressure vessels, shell and tube heat exchangers, valves, metal fabrications and piping systems

Responsibilities

  • Perform wall thickness and line sizing calculations 
  • Review and apply customer specifications and applicable codes to design of products
  • Design machined parts from bar stock and castings utilizing various materials
  • Prepare bill of materials for custom-manufactured equipment
  • Communication with production department, vendors, and customers
  • Handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously under scheduled deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently

Salary Range

$85K – $125K

Mechanical Designer

Manufacturer of Power & Process Equipment is searching for a Mechanical Designer with 7 to 15 years of experience in designing Mechanical equipment. Must be proficient in AutoCAD Mechanical. Knowledge of pressure vessels, piping, welding, and NDE is required. Competent Computer skills with all Microsoft Office products are required.

Description

Mechanical Designer is responsible for completing the custom design and drafting of Schutte & Koerting’s equipment and systems. Utilizing CAD software, the designer will complete modeling of parts and assemblies, will create drawings with appropriate dimensioning and tolerances, and develop a complete bill of material.

Designer will also be responsible for thorough review of project specifications, customer requirements, and all other project materials in order to successfully meet customer order requirements. Designer will interface with Sales Engineering, Design Engineering, in-house Production team, Customers, and Sub-Venders. Strong interpersonal skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Apply customer requirements and applicable codes to design products
  • Interface with clients for drawing submittals, status updates, and resolving any issues
  • Interact with Production and Vendors to resolve manufacturing issues and improve products
  • Design products from machined parts, fabrications, and castings in various materials
  • Create Bill of Material details in Sage 100 ERP system
  • Must handle multiple tasks/projects and maintain design schedule to meet customer required deliveries
  • Strong communication skills
  • Majority of work is 2D CAD, 3D is helpful but not mandatory

Salary Range

$70K – $80K

Manual Machinist

Manufacturer of power and process equipment located in Lower Bucks County is currently seeking a self-motivated individual to work in our production department. Candidate must be able to set up and operate Manual Engine Lathes, Milling Machines and Grinders and have experience working with castings and bar stock, single pieces and small lot runs.

The successful applicant must possess the following capabilities:

  • Set up and operate different machine tools to shape complex, small-run parts made from stainless steel, carbon steel, Monel, Inconel, and titanium, among others. Machine high quality components to close tolerances.
  • Interpret blueprints, manuals, and other work instructions
  • Perform first-article inspection to determine correctness of setup and finished pieces.
  • Clean & perform basic preventive maintenance functions on machines, tooling & parts.
  • Proficiency in use of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial calipers, depth gages, indicators, and scales.
  • Communicate with supervisors, engineers, production control employees and other personnel for assignments, and to resolve machining or quality issues.
  • Use material handling equipment to lift and position heavy materials.
  • Understand and abide by industry and machine-specific safety standards.
  • Inspect cutting tools for sharpness and usability.

Other requirements:

  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills and be able to follow verbal and written instructions well.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and be adaptable to a changing work environment. Open to being exposed to noise, fumes, and varying temperatures in a shop environment.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive motions and must have strong finger dexterity.
  • Must have basic math skills that include geometry and algebra
  • Must have problem solving ability and work independently
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • CNC experience a plus , i.e., Mazatrol or Prototrak
